I thought I should post a little more about this MOC.
Each tread is individually powered (no adder/subtracter - not enough room
insided in this version) and has pseudo-suspension. The turret can rotate
through a continuous 360 rotation - the motor is in the base, so no wiring to
worry about. The barrel elevates - this motor too is in the base. The gearing
routes up through a turntable. Lastly, it has working headlights - theyre neat,
but they were a royal pain to incorporate.
The controller - each joystick is dual function. Left joystick controls the left
tread and the rotation of the turret. Right joystick controls the right tread
and barrel elevation. Light are powered up with the controller.
I have to give credit to Shaun Sullivan as a lot of my inspiration came from his Panzer.
My gripes:
1) Its slow. I had a custom built worm-gear apparatus instead of the
boilerplate 24t-worm technic part, but had reliability issues.
2) My wire routing needs help. If I were to run the treads a lot they would
eventually wear down the insulation on the wires.
