Can someone who has one of these white gears tell me what they are for?  How are
they different from the other 24-toothed gears?  Is there perhaps a one-way
ratchet inside each one, or do they spin freely on the axle?

(...) exceeds a certain amount (listed on the gear). This basically serves as protection from overtorquing the entire sytem and breaking something. -Orion (20 years ago, 3-Dec-04, to lugnet.technic)
