Don't know if this will help you, but I recently got a largish technic order
filled by LEGO Australia, including 8, 16, 24 and 40 tooth gears (but no
universal joints... arggg!). Apart from S&H is there a head office or
distribution centre in the US similar to LEGO Australia? Not that I can tell
you what the official capacity of LEGO Australia is (and I doubt they could
either ;-)).
As a last resort I could try to get them from here and mail them to you, but
only as a last resort (for cost plus shipping). I'm assuming you've tried
parts auctions.
