Hi TJ

Excellent MOC!!! You did an awesome job of modelling the 282, Beat. Great work!
Great pictures too!

Thanks. I like them too (the pictures AND the model). It was quite a bit of an
insanity to use the bike to go up to the quary. You know, the quarry we've
talked about during your stay here in Switzerland. But the result was really
worth the trip!

My R996 will need some dusting first :-) And new batteries!

I have the possibility to run my model with the train regulator when indoors. As
it does not drive that fast, there's always enough cable left.

It would be really great to take pictures of our Liebherrs working together!
Maybe I have to come over to TX and bring my T 282 along.

I was very fortunate to see this model (slightly unfinished) in person some
weeks ago. It was great meeting Beat and discussing his MOCs, building
techniques, and seeing his LEGO collection. I'm very impressed at the level of
detail not only with this new MOC (the 282) but the other things he's built too.

Compared to the state of the model when you saw it, I not only added parts but I
also changed some major details, including the electrical cabinets on the
control deck, the main frame and I had to reinforce the rear drive.

And yes, it was great for me as well meeting you and exchange ideas.

Concerning details on my models, I don't follow the principle 'form follows
function' but I try to implement as many details of the real machine as possible
while still maintaining a lot of function. This leads sometimes to models that
look pretty good but don't have the desired performance. For example with the
Mountaineer I had to realize that I haven't built the crawler drives strong
enough to move the whole weight. On the other hand I was happy with their look.

One last thing- having the patience to get all 24x43 tires with yellow hubs
really paid off. The model looks spectacular with them!

Thanks. Finally I was lucky to find the backhoe loader in one of my bulk buys.
This model is very rare - at least in Switzerland. You are able to find the
Airtech Claw Rig quite often, in internet auctions and sometimes in bulk buys
when somebody sells his LEGO collection. But it was the first time for me
getting the backhoe. The first four wheels I bought from a Swiss bricklink-like
shop many years ago.

Greetings from Switzerland

Beat
