Is it just me that did not paying good enoug attention to this group or has
this set not been mentioned att all or at least not much?
I was getting this set yesterday, I started building at once and I did not
look too closely on the pictures printed on the box or the large picture on
the front of the building instruction, but started at page one emediatly :)
And what a fun creation to build. When starting I did not know what each
thing I was building was for, or where on the model it should be in the last
step. Neither did it show obviously what the function of each part was
before I was over half the way of building it.
And what a strange looking vehicle it become! With lots of dials to turn to
make things go round or out and in...
I liked the steering very well, but there looks like there are a design flaw
in there; the angle of the front pair and the rear pair (and what is front
of this vehicle?) is the same when in full right or left. But the senter
pair of wheels is not excatly in the middle... So one pair of wheels is
skidding when taking sharp turns. And REALY sharp turns it can do! and at
first I thought that the wheel boggie was going to work but it was just for
show. Too bad. I also hoped that they made the front pair of wheels so they
also could be folded in to make less space in "transport-mode" .
But over all a very nice-looking, extremly fun building set it is!
For they who have read all the way down here and do not know what set I am
talking about. Just make somebody go to a toy store and buy you LEGO set nr
7471, and make them put some paper on the outside of the box so you dont see
what it is and start building :)
PS! it is a large set with its 857 pcs box and mostly gray items.

| (...) The Mars Rover is a cool set, but I also was disappointed that the front wheels don't fold up like in real life. Perhaps someone out there has already modified it? John (21 years ago, 4-Feb-04, to lugnet.technic)
