New inline 4 cylinder Pneumatic Engine - No valves.

Not quite the same old inline 4 underneath - this engine is only single acting, because to make it double acting would mean double the amount of t-pieces and cables, which is already a lot. anyway, no valves in this engine at all, just a mechanism (...)   New modded parts

Here's an update on my parts experiments. I've added quite a few Technic parts: (URL) expansion link (URL) , based on a 1x3 thin liftarm, allows an axle or peg to slide in the 1x2 slotted hole. Very useful for steam engines: (URL) (It would go (...) (18 years ago, 2-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.technic)

  Re: R/C skid steer test

(...) Nice idea. I made a similar prototype some time ago, which does not need a battery pack, but which can not have both tracks running in opposite direction. Some images here: (URL) Julien (18 years ago, 2-Feb-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.technic)

  R/C skid steer test

Well- I finally got around to testing the idea of a R/C tank. I built a little test rig just to see how it would work. The idea is an adder/subtractor drive, with the R/C "drive" output goes to a motor on the base input and the steering output tied (...)   Re: Mindstorms question

Re: FTX links (was: Request: 1/19 scale)

(...) For those links to work, you need to set the format to FTX before posting, using the combo list just below the subject. HTH ROSCO (18 years ago, 1-Feb-07, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic, lugnet.publish)

Re: Request: 1/19 scale tank/heavy machinery for PDX

(...) Don't everyone jump up at once! I'm just looking for something that looks nice and will at least roll. Just to elaborate on my first post, this would be for display only - I'm not asking to take it home with me :-P If you have any other (...) (18 years ago, 1-Feb-07, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Mindstorms question

(...) Come to think of it; if the difference in torque triggers a switch, that switch might as well trigger the off switch to the blade motor. The whole thing could be done 100% mechanically without the Mindstorms kit. Bummer. Oh well; that kit will (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jan-07, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Mindstorms question

(...) Thanks for the reply. If everything you say is true, I might use multiple white clutch gears on one axle, gear them to a differential and use the difference in torque to trigger a lever- which can activate the touch sensor. It sounds better to (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jan-07, to lugnet.technic)

Request: 1/19 scale tank/heavy machinery for PDX

Hi I've usually a lurker on lugnet, but as Brickfest PDX nears I figure its time to speak up. I'm hoping to bring a 14-wide model semi with lowboy in the Model Team style to this brickfest. I've been building it for almost a year, and should have it (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jan-07, to lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

Re: Unit LNE of the dinochrome brigade (Was: Rock Crawling)

The second set of arms on Mike's robot gives it better mobility. They make its overall tread length much longer, so it can treat stairs like a ramp instead of, well, stairs, and that makes it faster at climbing them. The arms also let it raise the (...)   Re: Unit LNE of the dinochrome brigade (Was: Rock Crawling)

(...) Ha! Methinks you underestimate the talents (not to mention obsession) of the other folks in this event <grin>. Seriously, thanks for the kind words, and I'm very happy with it, but now the rest of you know yet another way to try to do it. Go (...)   Re: Unit LNE of the dinochrome brigade (Was: Rock Crawling)

(...) well, in all honesty I shamelessly implemented a solution I had already known about: PackBot by iRobot. I won't remotely claim the idea originated with me, as it didn't. I was inspired by the "real world" here. That said, I'd not run across (...) (18 years ago, 29-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: Unit LNE of the dinochrome brigade (Was: Rock Crawling)

(...) Thank you both Matthias & Philo (and others!). give them an inch indeed... first, I really feel i need to apologize for *not* CADing this up. I've tried to CAD stuff, but the combination of my chosen platform (Mac) coupled with where I like (...) (18 years ago, 29-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: Unit LNE of the dinochrome brigade (Was: Rock Crawling)

Brian, your rock crawler is quite interesting to me because you've rediscovered the design of a real-world reconnaissance robot: (URL) designer is related to my boss in some manner that I can't recall, but he was up at our office last summer showing (...) (...) Same comments and feelings here ;o) Brian, it would help to reproduce your outstanding design (and maybe CAD it!) if you could provide higher resolutions photographs somewhere... Philo (18 years ago, 29-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: Unit LNE of the dinochrome brigade (Was: Rock Crawling)

(...) OK, I hammered on it some more, and made a much more fun video. I updated Brickshelf with some "deconstruction" pictures that show how to build it (hey, I didn't say they made it *easy* to build it): (URL) the video on YouTube, with my son (...)
