Re: Arched Through Truss Bridge - LegoWorld 2005 Bridge strength contest

(...) Why not calculate the ratio (Carried weight) / (Structure weight) as the winning criterion? (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Arched Through Truss Bridge - LegoWorld 2005 Bridge strength contest

(...) Cool. I very much like your bridge. And you're right, there should have been a weight limit in the contest, otherwise, the person with the most LEGO will always win. ;-) Jeff (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: Arched Through Truss Bridge - LegoWorld 2005 Bridge strength contest

(...) Philo- Cool looking bridge. Neat contest. For our current SCLTC layout, we built twin 192-stud long truss bridges with the truss work under the decks. We tested the spans with a 13 pound bowling ball in the center and measured a deflection of (...) (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

your bridge is very nice looking. i like the steep outer curve on it. and 76kg is quite a large load. TJs spread sheet makes very good bridges. bob (...) Bob Kojima ko@fial.com Fial Incorporated Telecom Monitoring Solutions 4343 SW Corbett Ave (...) (19 years ago, 28-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New project: minifig scale walking dragline

(...) Bravo! A dragline is a great project & I can't wait to see this one progress. Are you modeling it on a specific real-world machine? Post more WIP pictures as you build, I really like to see how MOC's come together. Ben (19 years ago, 28-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

  Hydraulic Compressor/Cycler

The discussion on the Hydraulic/air-vacuum has been long and thought provoking. The first breakthrough came with the implimentation of a 4-switch valve system. Combining this with a regular Ram, We can construct a closed-circuit, compressor. My (...) (19 years ago, 27-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New Moc: Truck MAN 26.422 DFAK

(...) Hallo Nathan Thank you for your compliment. Its true, it was a hard way, to realised all these functions in my model. Need a lot of time. I think, i build the chassis five times. The correct way to say is "Mit Legos bist du viel besser als (...) (19 years ago, 26-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Adaptor(s)

(...) No, I understand that - for instance, AFOL's have had compass, IR, Ultrasound, differential light and IR sensors, etc., for quite some time now. Including the rectifier etc. hasn't seemed to be very much of a problem, in terms of size or cost, (...) (19 years ago, 26-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Adaptor(s)

I think what you missed was the possibility to attach more advanced and interesting sensors. The sensors are a basic start- but there are better ones, there are compass sensors, improved non-contact rotation sensors (read as opto-interruptor based (...)   Re: Adaptor(s)

(...) I have a mini-tripod that I take backpacking (about $9 US) that has three folding 4" long legs and a double ball-socket head (tripod to ball-socket, ball-socket to 2nd ball-socket via a short 1" long connector, with the pin- &-screw mounting (...)   Re: Adaptor(s)

(...) I'm not sure I understand - what would that gain you? Since the standard LEGO sensors have that circuitry built in, and if you put it in a seperate unit all you're doing is moving the circuitry from the sensor itself to a second enclosure. (...)   Re: Adaptor(s)

(...) I built an adapter for my digital pocket camera using a 6x8 plate with 2x2 tiles glued to it. I drilled a 1/4 inch hole at the right place and put a screw up through it an into the mounting hole of the camera. The plate can get stuck on (...)   Re: Adaptor(s)

I would love a way to mount other mCUs, as the 3 RCXs, and batteries to support them to get some of the same functionality can be very heavy and bulky. I agree with a standard electrical connector - I actually had an idea for a more advanced Lego (...) (19 years ago, 25-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Active pneumatic suspension

Hi all, It's probably not impressive with the 7-foot-high-man-eati...go-walkers I've seen here :P but here's an active pneumatic suspension I thought up. It's suposed to be activated manually, and after a while (thanks to the "pneumatic parlor (...) (19 years ago, 24-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New project: minifig scale walking dragline

(...) I don't envy you, building a walking drag line mechanism. All that weight on two linkages and their bearing surfaces. Good luck anyway. I'm sure a lot of .Technic readers have though of building a large dragline. Steve (19 years ago, 24-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

  Adaptor(s)

If you could have an adaptor to connect A non-Lego item to Lego what would you have? At the moment I'd like a device that connects Lego wires to standard electrical wire. Something like an electric brick with one of those connectors you get on cheap (...) (19 years ago, 24-Nov-05, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)
