Re: Minnesota AFOL makes it on Owatonna Today show

(...) Thanks for the positive feedback! It was fun. I had video prepared of some walkers, and demonstrated my little UCOGVI micromotor based walker. I'm rarely at a loss for words (verbosity is a family trait), so we got through most everything. I (...) (19 years ago, 26-Oct-05, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.technic)

Re: Minnesota AFOL makes it on Owatonna Today show

(...) I hope someone from a bigger TV station watches it and gets you more publicity. Your MOCs certainly deserve a wider audience. 12 minutes is good going for any TV show! Mark (19 years ago, 26-Oct-05, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.technic)

  Gottwald AMK 1000t mobile crane

Here is a mini fig scale Gottwald AMK 1000t mobile crane. There was only one of these ever built. This Lego crane uses 2 micro motors, one running the main hook, and the second running the hold back line for the jib. The counter weight is made up of (...)   Re: MTM-168

(...) -Snip- Ya, know......... What IF: like um, what if you added RC racer style motors and geartrain to the tred legs. Then watch it go nuts! I think you'd need to have articulated crawler arms so you could steer the thing. What the heck, I dare (...) (19 years ago, 26-Oct-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.technic, FTX)

Minnesota AFOL makes it on Owatonna Today show

Well, it is not much of a media watch, because it is such a small market, but I'm going to be on the local cable access television "The Owatonna Today Show" (indian name pronounced oh-wah-tah-na). On October 26th, I'll be on for a whopping 12 (...) (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Crane building resources

(...) Hello, If you have not already seen it you should check out this website: (URL) There are a couple of really nice cranes, as well as downloadable spreadsheets with info on truss design. Hope that helps! Ben (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  Re: 1:20 scale Apache Helicopter

Was it possible to make a functional, FLYING helicopter with Meccano/Erector? (for those who did play with this metal based, building toy) (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 1:20 scale Apache Helicopter

(...) Nice. I would love to see a close up of the rotor gimbal. I cant wait to see it completed. I find myself wandering about the best way (if any) to get a rotor blade with a proper wing like structure in Lego. Something using the 1x1 with a (...) (19 years ago, 22-Oct-05, to lugnet.technic)

  Crane building resources

I've been toying around with the idea of building a medium scale lattice boom crawler crane, and was looking for some resources on building a good strong boom structure. I figure I want a 10x10 square frame main boom, and slightly smaller scaled jib (...) (19 years ago, 23-Oct-05, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 1:20 scale Apache Helicopter

(...) D'oh! But I can still say at least mine didn't have any modified parts ;) (...) Actually, the swash plates on a chinook are a bit simpler - they only require collective and roll control, pitch is handled by differential collective on the 2 (...) (19 years ago, 23-Oct-05, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 1:20 scale Apache Helicopter

(...) Anyway, I'm glad I'm not the only one to have tackled this problem. As soon as I bought an 8856 helicopter (URL) I thought "That's not how a real helicopter works" and began thinking how to do it properly. This was the main reason I sent TLG (...)   Re: 1:20 scale Apache Helicopter

(...) Sorry, the rotor was done in 1996 - TLG have the pictures! So mine was the first after all! :-) Mark (19 years ago, 23-Oct-05, to lugnet.technic)

  1:20 scale Apache Helicopter

Here's my MOC of an Apache helicopter, built to 1:20 scale, compatible with Technic figures. (URL) features the first ever fully working Lego helicopter rotor with collective and differential rotor blade pitch control. (URL) The rotor blades are (...)   New MOC added: Scania R143 with steered trailer and loading crane

I just added this model to my website. It's not new because I already built it eight years ago. (URL) Scania R143H> (URL) (19 years ago, 22-Oct-05, to lugnet.modelteam, lugnet.technic, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !

Re: High Failure Rate of New Type 9V Geared Motor

Re: High Failure Rate of New Type 9V Geared Motor

(...) I suspect it's bad design. Perhaps the way the brushes rub on the PCB as pointed out by Philo ((URL) "This higher friction explains why 43362 stops faster when you give the shaft a twirl, and why its no-load current is higher (9mA vs. 3.5mA)".   Re: High Failure Rate of New Type 9V Geared Motor

(...) I sent Nathanael Kuipers an email regarding the motors and asked him to forward it to the proper person. Do you think it is excessive torque, excessive use, or just a bad piece design that causes this problem? Nathan (19 years ago, 21-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)
