Re: Brickfest Pneumatic Master and new Pneumatic Gate Circuits

(...) Hi Larry, It was great to see you again at BrickFest. I appreciate your interest in my pneumatics creations. I've already had the pleasure of co-authoring with Dr. Soh, and would enjoy it again if it were to take place. I've tested the waters (...)   Re: Brickfest Pneumatic Master and new Pneumatic Gate Circuits

(...) Hmmm... I think this could possibly be used on something like the 8421 crane, now that we have proper pieces to fix two cylinders together. Since cylinders are cheaper and more plentiful (especially in Backhoes) this makes sense for use on (...) (19 years ago, 27-Aug-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Brickfest Pneumatic Master and new Pneumatic Gate Circuits

(...) I don't quite understand what you're getting at, but I don't see how two switches back to back, offset from each other and switching the same signals would help. I can see some optimistation in my earlier diagram, removing one switch from A to (...) (19 years ago, 27-Aug-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Brickfest Pneumatic Master and new Pneumatic Gate Circuits

Mark, I have studied and understand your 3+3 AND gate. A few years ago I made a simpler version of the same thing. My design replaces your six switches with one switch and mechanical linkages. Here is a picture of this AND gate: (URL) In my 1 AND (...) (19 years ago, 25-Aug-05, to lugnet.technic)

(...) whan you use them in this way you better can use 1 switch becouse the air wil be free to the admosfer alround it whane the swich is compleetly swiched, isn't it?... a sugest to make a construction whare one switch is in the senter and the (...) (19 years ago, 25-Aug-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Brickfest Pneumatic Master and new Pneumatic Gate Circuits

I think this diagram should explain the differences: (URL) is the N-input differential output AND gate, developed from your sketch. I've used 2 switches for A, to gate the supply so that it doesn't leak. This gives 2+4++4 switches for an N-input (...) (19 years ago, 25-Aug-05, to lugnet.technic)

I just saw this pic of a crane (8421) with a luffing jib. Here are the pics: (URL) (19 years ago, 24-Aug-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Brickfest Pneumatic Master and new Pneumatic Gate Circuits

(...) I mechanically link the two pistons together so they act as though they were one larger piston, also I mechanically link the four switches. This eliminates any issue with racing between the two pistons and their switches. Could you explain in (...) (19 years ago, 24-Aug-05, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Telehandler finally completed

(...) Thanks for the kind words Vineet! What I meant was; before the boom only elevated to about 35 degrees. The real ones go past 45 degrees. It was a good design that needed improvement. I think it is lighter now too. One good tip I got at (...) (19 years ago, 24-Aug-05, to lugnet.technic)
