I don´t know if this is news but you can get the official instructions for the
DDK Battle Droid as featured on the DDK-box. Look at:
http://www.legomindstorms.com/
klick on "Droid Developer Kit", then on the DDK banner, from there you get to
the instructions. Sorry no direct link possible.
