I saw set 7263 for the first time in stores[1] today. The packaging is
fantastic! Not the "Try Me" packaging[2]. The box is two-sided, with
"front" printing on both large sides! Even better, the printing is
oriented so that, depending on which side is out, the box can be set on
either its long side or its short side. This means:
a) Retail workers, who demonstrate a great affinity for facing out the
backs of LEGO boxes, will have to be exceptionally dense not to notice
that the box is sideways when the wrong side is facing out. Hopefully
this will lead to the correct side being faced out.
b) The box can be set up, in a pleasingly shelf-filling way, on shelves
that are sized for tall sets (like $30 sets) or short sets (like $4 sets).
This presents more options for shelf stockers and plannogram makers, and
should avoid some of the more clumsy placements/stacking/etc. I have seen
for, e.g., the $10 Racers sets and Sirius Black's Escape.
I hope this packaging is used for future rectangular set boxes!

[1] Wal-Mart (but not on the shelves most people can reach), TRU, and
Target, but not, oddly, my local brand retail store.
[2] Which I think is a really bad idea when the battery in the 'fig is not
meant to be user-replaceable, and for me primarily demonstrated that a
light-up lightsaber is not really very interesting, and is not a reason to
buy the set.
