Thanks guys! I tried to keep his helmet as small as I could, but it still reminds me a little of Dark Helmet from Spaceballs every time I look at him! Considering the amount of articulation he has, he’s actually very sturdy (but his weight makes it a little tougher to achieve the more animated poses that lighter small mechs can normally be put in). When I started building him, he was just going to be a regular Bothan, wearing some sort of generic red armor. But, while building, I noticed that the if I just replaced the red tiles I was using with white ones, it looked a lot like trooper armor, so I changed idea. The one thing I liked better about how I was going to do it, though, was that the Bothan head was originally a bit larger and more detailed (better cheeks, higher brow and bigger ears), but I had to shrink it down so the helmet would fit better over it (or else he waould have really looked like Dark Helmet!).

(...) Wild as always Mike. The split apart helmet is a thing of beauty. It consistantly amazes me how you coax such shapes and functionality out of a buncha little plastic rectangles. Cheers, -G (20 years ago, 20-Feb-04, to lugnet.starwars, FTX)
