Hey, since the popular Target mistake has been the popular talk lately I
thought I'd share my story.  Have fun reading.
Saturday was my senior prom.  Afterward our parents held a party for us at
the middle school gym.  They were giving away doorprizes.  I won a $35 gift
card for Wal-Mart.  I'm thinking "Hey I can get Jango Fett's Slave I for
only $15 bucks now."  But unfortunately (or fortunately) our Wal-Mart is
only stocking UCS Yoda (which I already have) and The Republic Gunship.  So
I bit the bullet and used the gift card on the gunship and only paid $60 for
it (our prom was free!)  By the way I took my wonderful girlfriend of two
years, who two years ago got me the UCS X-Wing for my birthday (she's
definitely a keeper).  Anyway, I got the Gunship on Sunday and had a blast
building it, yes everyone it is as cool as everyone has said, if you don't
have it yet, GO BUY IT!!! NOW!  But I felt bad not getting the Slave I cause
it looked so cool.  Enter Monday.  At school (my last week of high school
ever!) I decided to look at movie times for star wars cause I'm gonna see it
again on Saturday, (only my 2nd time, I know I'm behind) BUT our stupid
school insists on a proxy the filters out anything remotely fun including
every single movie listing site on the net.  Fortunately it doesn't block
LUGNET.  So, I cruised on over and see the heated debate of Target's
wonderful screw-up.  Unfortunately the nearest target is 45 min away.  I was
ready to cut school right then to snag a Slave I before they were gone, but
I had to wait until today (Wednesday).  Fortunately the Target had about 3
left (Richmond, IN Target if you're close).  They had moved the sign
underneath the Technic Jango but it clearly read.
"Jango Fett's Slave I Vehicle $24.88"
Just to be sure I scanned it at the "check a price" thingy in the toy dept.
It rang up 24.88.  No disputes, the cashier probably had no clue that the
set was $50 originally.  So that's my story.  If you were bored enough to
read it thanks.  My collection has grown vastly since '99.  I have every
Star Wars Lego set excluding: Technic Stormtrooper and C-3PO, Mindstorms
Dark Side, Darth Maul Bust, Rebel Blockade Runner, and the two new
keychains.  I've also picked up a few extras recently, like the limited
edition S@H Catalog, and two of the four Toys R' Us Posters. (Republic
Gunship, and Bounty Hunter Pursuit)
I'm stoked that Lego is finally releasing Writing System Star Wars Pens, and
I must have them all.  But thanks to everyone in Lugnet: Star Wars cause you
guys always keep me in the know, although sometimes I think I've heard it
first, someone usually has me beat.  I don't know what I'm going to do with
all of my sets when I head out to college next year, but my Mom's definitely
not putting them in some garage sale.  I've kept all the original boxes and
most of te sets are on display in my room.  So thanks for reading my long
story.  I feel like you deserve some sort of prize, so go get the Slave I at
Target for 50% off if you haven't already, trust me it's a great feeling.
