Hey all,

Just upon visual inspection I must say that I think the RBR will go down in
history
as one of the greatest Lego sets ever made.  The scale (it's HUGE!),
proportions
(correct for once concerning this particular ship design.  The new
electronic toy has
ridiculously inflated engines!), and the color scheme all work for me.  I
cannot
WAIT to see the all parts in a larger picture!  My christmas list is done.

As far as the color scheme, I'm happy with white and dark red.  Check out
this photo of a page from "ILM: The Art of Special Effects" with George
surrounded by models of most of the ships from the films.

Though the so-so picture quality makes the colors look darker, under normal
lighting
the majority of the models appear very light gray with lots of aging and
wear added in
darker grays and blacks.  It would be great if TLG would make light gray
more available,
but I'm always happy to get more white because a lot of my collection is
yellowed or dirty.

Funny thing is, when the first toys came out I really disliked the fact that
not only
had they made the X-Wing's fuselage bloated (in order to fit in the equally
poorly-designed non-posable "action figure"), but they cast it in white!  In
the films, the ships clearly appear light grey and being an obsessive model
builder at the time, these inconsistencies really annoyed me.

BTW, I think the Darth Maul bust is just that.  Where the heck are the
sloped pieces?!

Dave
