Eidolon Engineering releases Spiffcraft to Public

TERRA (Interstellar Press), today, Eidolon Engineering released the Spiffcraft for sale to the general public. "We believe in offering the finest to all our customers who give us a lot of money," said Admiral Sandlin, commander of the Lego Space (...) (24 years ago, 2-Dec-00, to lugnet.space)

The Interstellar Press wishes to cross-post this article. Thank you for your time. ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (24 years ago, 2-Dec-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Eidolon Engineering releases Spiffcraft to Public

Mark, I'm really pleased to see this. I loved the Spiffcraft the first time you posted it (without instructions). I'm wondering if you could post the large JPG files all zipped up into one instruction packet for easy downloading? Paul Ferguson (...) (24 years ago, 4-Dec-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Eidolon Engineering releases Spiffcraft to Public

That would be rather difficult to do, Paul. I don't have enough space on my webserver, and Brickshelf auto-unzips stuff that you upload, so I suppose you'll just have to download them one-at-a-time. Sorry for the inconvenience. ~Mark "Muffin Head" (...) (24 years ago, 4-Dec-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Eidolon Engineering releases Spiffcraft to Public

If someone would like to render the Spiffcraft in LCAD and credit me, that would be just fine. BTW, do it up with one o' them new smoked canopies like on the Life on Mars rover thingy (too lazy to look up set number) I plan to replace my canopy with (...)   Re: Eidolon Engineering releases Spiffcraft to Public

(...) Would you object to rendering it in LCad and posting it in cad.? Or, if you don't have the time to do so, would you mind if someone else posted it for you, giving you full credit, of course? Dave! (24 years ago, 4-Dec-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Eidolon Engineering releases Spiffcraft to Public

(...) Okay, I've put it together in LEdit, but I'm using Thomas Burger's unofficial version of the Divers Bubble Dome for the canopy. Does an official version of this part exist? Dave! (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Eidolon Engineering releases Spiffcraft to Public

(...) Not yet. There are at least three different unofficial versions (hmm, maybe 4 -- I think I posted two different files). Someone should finish that thing up. Steve (24 years ago, 8-Dec-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

(...) Cute. :-) [pedantic] *However*, in order for it to be a *true* monolith, it must measure *precisely* 1x4x9. As any other LegoCAD-er will be able to tell you, the height of the Lego brick is different than the width of the Lego brick. Using the (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) I beg to differ :) The smallest monolith possible in LEGO is 1x4x9. You just have to orient it differently. Make it 9 studs long, 1 stud wide, and 3 bricks and 1 tile tall. Then stand it on the short end. --Bram (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) Yes, your math works... ;-) *However*, the "real" monolith was "immoveable, fused to the bedrock on which it rested" (or words to that effect; it's been awhile), and was perfectly smooth. The not-necessarily-the-...t-possible monolith that I (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.space)
