OK.  Here's my first entry.  This is the ship that TLG would never have made
back then, but that everyone of us would have wanted... a fighter !
The Starfighter's design was heavily influenced by the venerable
Starfleet Voyager-Class exploration vessels, but it was intended to escort
and, when neccesary, single-handedly defend these and other older, lightly
armed vessels from any threats they might encounter on the galactic rim.
The cargo hold was deleted all-together to allow the Starfighter to carry 4
ship-to-ship missles, 10 matter-antimatter bombs, and 4 pulse cannons.  A
third engine was added to increase the ship's manuverability and
acceleration well beyond the performance envelope of any previous design.
The Starfighters quickly gained a reputation for being tough, reliable, and
easy to maintain.  The use of existing weapon, engine, and computer
technologies ensured that the extensive inventories of Voyager-Class spare
parts maintained by starfleet drydock facilites could be used without
modifications on Starfighters.  Modern day military strategists surmise that
the navy's current compliment of admittedly outdated Starfighters are still
more than a match for any vessel that the recently encountered UFO or
Insectoid fleets could use in raiding Starfleet Shipping lanes.  Simulations
indicate that the Starfighters could also be used to devastating effect in
offensive mission roles should the need ever arise...
I'm not sure whether it should be a category 3 Medium Ship or a
category 4 Large Ship.  It's not very big and it's only got about 250 pieces
in it, but it is definitely bigger than Todd's examples of what a medium
ship would be.

(...) for the most part. For example, the engines. It looks like there's TONS of them, but it's really only two big ones and four little ones. Not an unreasonable amount of similar specialty parts at all. Love the overall look. It's what the 1593 (...) (24 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.space)

It seems like it would be appropriate to start a separate thread specifically for holding actual entries. With that, here are my first 3 entries: Category 3: Medium Ships (approx. 100-200 pieces): (URL) 4: Large Ships (approx. 300-1000 pieces): (...)
