Build Notes:

I love Mech Bays. After Thanksgiving in Ohio with Family, I drove back to New Jersey thinking about building a Mech Bay for The Cub using one of the clear 48x48 baseplates I have. So that Saturday night Nov. 26, I began building this Light Box Mech Bay. I completed the creation 12 days later; Dec.8 .

The base plate rests on a matrix of white bricks. I installed a 12 inch Florescent bulb and TECHNIC motor with rotor blades for cooling. Surrounded by a brick base. 22 1/4 inches square.

4 colums rise from the corners. I added air ducts to the sides for ventilation. A simple truss grid forms the roof. The inner frame work is all TECHNIC axles, bushings and toggle joints. Of which wore my finger tips out.

The inner gantry supports the Mecha by use of a main pylon support and x4 multi-segmented yellow manipulator arms. Two red manipulator arms tend to final adjustments before and after unlocking from the Mech Bay.

The Bay lights up nicely and is pretty big.

Would make a nice gift. hint hint

Well, seeing as you're on a Gundam kick lately, I have to say this is pretty obviously the Double Zeta of mech bays - all the elements are there, and some of it is kinda nifty, but it just doesn't come together. I'm sure someone will be all over it, (...) (19 years ago, 8-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

(...) That's hawt. I hope whoever buys it brings it to a fest, so we can turn out the overhead lights and see how it really looks in the dark. Tremendously creative use of that ultra-ultra-rare trans clear baseplate! (19 years ago, 11-Dec-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Hmm, about time I chimed in here. What can I say, but that I am impressed by your work as always Eric. I am glad you got the lamp working with out to many problems, did you manage to get the noise down? It looks good with the mech in it, and the B (...)
