In lugnet.announce.moc, Nathan Proudlove announced:
Well, its not quite the shape depicted in the 1980 BBC TV mini-series, and its
definitely not a grey block from this springs movie (now on DVD!); and although
its not all that interesting at first glance, its got several cool features:
- The studs-down splayed-toe quad landing gear, with rubber bands -- are the gear bistable (spring! sproing!), or do they get cranked down?
- The cavernous end-to-end cargo bay with arched supports. The jaw-hinged hatch doesnt quite work as a ramp -- do the sub-vehicles exit on antigrav (agrav, contragrav, repulsorlift)?
- The X-Pods on either side of the bridge do nothing for me aesthetically, unless theyre meant to give the ship a bug-eyed look.
- The ducted fan-things on the chin make it look like its trying to be a submersible. Destructor beam projectors?
- The parallelogram design of the side-pods is intriguing, but they dont have any play-features.
- I love the pic with the microscale construction vehicles and the green frogs (including the one perched on the hull).
FWIW, a while ago I experimented with the contours of the Starship Heart of
Gold from the TV series; the one shaped like a white running shoe.

| Micro scale Vogon Constructor ship. Never did completely finish it but I need the pieces for other projects. "hangs in the air much the same way that bricks don't." Nathan Proudlove (URL) Gallery post mod (URL) (19 years ago, 11-Sep-05, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.space, FTX) !
