  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) Navigation in space is hair-raising enough as it is. I shudder to think of how much more complicated this would become if you start needing to account for body stance when using thrusters. I could maybe see the idea of using humanoid (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) I'd think it would have been more funny catching his reaction when he switched from smug dismissal of the unarmed opponents to realizing just how deep he'd stepped into it. It sounds about on par with the British forces who lost a fortified (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) I know that police are already using various types of UGVs on the basis that it's a lot more pleasent to attempt to justify to the public why they should be willing to shell out the bucks for a really expensive glorified RC car to replace the (...)   Re: Transparent Aluminum

(...) Aircraft windows are often made out of drape-formed plastic (drape-forming doesn't introduce material stress in the same way that other forming methods do), and at least in terms of fighter jets, I'm not sure I'd want to have a (...)   Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) I'd have to agree, at least based on what I've experienced playing BattleTech. A friend of mine always used to use tanks to go up against Mechs and Elementals (I think that's what the power-armor was called in BattleTech. It's been a few (...)   Re: Jade Empire Hong Hovertank

(...) Russian Winters being what defeated the Germans is more myth than truth. Think about it. Hitler attacked in late summer of 1941. Sure, the winter hurt his Moscow offensive of that year, but Hitler remained in a commanding position in Russia (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.off-topic.geek, FTX)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

To offer a different POV, I believe that power armor should be used in space as an asset to ship-to-ship combat operations as commandos or raiders It could also be used in a repair role where dexterity is needed but the area is too dangerous for a (...)   Re: Moon shuttle

(...) Wow! Thanks Ken! Folding gear : always a + for me, he he! And the fins : yes, I agree with you, they are not very functionnal on the Moon, but I like the retro look they give to this shuttle. Cheers, JP. (21 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) Thanks Bill! Let's go for the Lincoln Galactic Navigator! It's been long time since I want to make a space limo. This one came close, but what I have in mind is more an over-limo, like the (URL) one> Bram Lambrecht did about one year ago. (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Moon shuttle

(...) I love this MOC. Sort of simple compared to some, but HIGHLY effective. The stairs integrated into the hatch works well, the large twin engines.. very space 1999-ish, yet not. The compact gear petty nice too. Not sure that you'd need fins or (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
