My son and I have just such a mountain base under construction, only much
larger. The M:Tron base is also a secret rebel base, with landing space for
about 5 X-wing sized fighters (up to 10 if I can buy some more baseplates for
a second tier). The mountain is being constructed with red bricks and is to
be as wide as three of the x-large baseplates, and about 40 bricks tall. In
the center about 2/3 of the way up are bay doors using large quarter domes
which open onto a space landing pad. We've used an RCX to make the doors open
by themselves when a ship approaches, and we're working on making the space
landing pad lower to the bottom of the mountain, where the hidden rebel hanger
is.
Three stories of space station rooms are being built into the inside of the
mountain--even a trash compactor :-)
This project is taking _many_ more bricks than we initially anticipated, so
its going slowly while we accumulate more red bricks. Even now, though, it
makes a great place to land our SW ships.
