    Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
My love affair with the 3x12 wedge slope continues: (URL) Argent Supra This came out a bit more old-school than I intended. And a lot bigger (it sort of strains the boundaries of whooshability!). It was originally going to be an all-silver spaceship (...) (21 years ago, 16-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !!

        Re: Argent Supra —Bram Lambrecht
(...) That's exactly what I thought when I first saw the pics on Brickshelf. (...) I like it, but... I think the printed slopes make it a little too busy. I think the design would look more cohesive if some of the slopes were Brassoed. For starters, (...) (21 years ago, 16-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) More 3x12 wedge sloped MOCs to come, by the way... ;-) (...) I'm disagreeing with a few people here, but I don't think that the printing makes it look too busy. Indeed, it was something I considered while building it, and in the end I decided (...) (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Daniel Jassim
Hey Paul! Very impressive design and excellent presentation (please tell me you’ll save that landing bay for future MOCs!). You definitely are the king of the 3 X 12 slopes. I’m still struggled with what to do with the 4 I have. Those engines are (...) (21 years ago, 16-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) The engines are my favourite detail too. They were the inspiration for the whole thing, they in turn developed around the use of the eight 3x12 wedges in a cone-like shape. (...) Thanks Dan. As I said to Bram, from an aesthetic point of view I (...) (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Gil Shaw
(...) Man..is that ever 'out there'. To be honest, when I first saw it in the thumbnail I recoiled a little bit due to the lime green....truly one of the hardest colours for me to get my head around. A closer look however reveals that the spire (...) (21 years ago, 16-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Thanks. I actually quite like this colour, and I used it in a smaller craft but wanted to try something more adventurous, and I made a conservative guess that a gaudy colour like lime-green would need a cool neutral like chrome to improve the (...)         Re: Argent Supra —John Henry Kruer
(...) Dang, Paul! Wow! You do stretch the limits of our imaginations. I don't really know what to say. Wow. I dig that sloping up wing design. The color scheme is very in-your-face, but it works well. And those huge engines are really neat. (...) (21 years ago, 16-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Thanks! Yeah, I can't get enough of those 8-sided clip plate thingys (The wedges are clipped onto those). (...) Gaah! I knew someone would mention that. Actually, there's a zero-gee toilet compartment on one side of the exit bay (beneath the (...) (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Gregory Muri
That is a whole lot of lime there Paul! What a cool looking ship. I especially like the integration of the Technic panels and the 2x4 wedge plates that make up the front of the engines. If I had one ever so slight negative comment, it would be to (...) (21 years ago, 16-Feb-04, to lugnet.space)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Yeah, that the cool 8-sided clippable part, I wish I knew what it was called! A lot of Exploriens sets had them in white. I wish I had more of them! (...) Yeah, I think I prefer them printed in this case. I've been working with unprinted (...) (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Hi Paul I love that MOC.....man you know how to impress makes me feel like giving up building... when I saw your stuff...WOW LegoAvon (URL) (21 years ago, 16-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Thanks :-) (...) You're supposed to feel like trying something similar... you know, watch and learn, that sort of thing :-) Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Allister McLaren
(...) Gobsmackingly gorgeous and packed chockablock full o' wonderful details - I especially like the technic panels and what's under them. Shame about the colur, but. ;) Allister (21 years ago, 16-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Pah! Lime green is the new dark grey. Seriously, I like this colour. At first I didn't, but it grew on me. Besides, any colour looks good with silver. Thanks for replying :-) Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Mladen Pejic
Excellent work Paul! Fantastic form and detailing. The landing gear also strikes my fancy. Yes it's "fugly", but it looks extremely functional and robust. I might have to look into that type of design when I get around to building spacecraft again. (...) (21 years ago, 16-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Actually, I was thinking about using it for future spacecraft. I'm never too worried about what the landing gear look like, unless I have a cool idea for landing gear :-) (...) If it were any other colour than lime green, and if the printing (...) (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Ley Ward
(...) Excellent Paul! I can't wait to see what you do with the silver. Usually I'd prefer that they had used stickers rather than printing on bricks, but I don't mind the printing so much on this; it helps to break up the lime. I like how the (...)          Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Thanks :-) (...) I had exactly those things about the printing in mind as I was building it. Well spotted! (...) Yeah, that was a detail that worked out really well. I just wish I knew what the 8-sided piece was called... (...) Again, thanks. (...) (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Ronald Borchert
(...) Hi, perhaps you mean part #30033 "Plate 2 x 2 with Rod Frame Octagonal" ? I imagine you took this part and some clips to fix the wedges on it? Don't know how to insert pics here...:-( (URL) it's an awesome looking ship! I'm a great fan of all (...) (21 years ago, 18-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) That's the part! I would love to have a few hundred of that piece in gray. Thanks for the compliment. And don't worry - I know a few AFOLs who stick to building trains because it's easier than building spaceships... ~~~~~~J Cheers, (URL) (...) (21 years ago, 20-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Melody Brown
(...) Greeting fellow Aussie... I'm not really a huge fan/builder of LEGO space (mainly for the knowledge and lack of building experience in that area)... but Steven Locke showed me this, and I totally agree with him :) very nice indeed and as I (...)          Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Thanks Mel! I think there are actually a lot of spacecraft around here with some very cool shapes and designs to them... you just have to do a lot of lurking to see them ;-) Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (21 years ago, 18-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Bob Hayes
(...) Paul, I love the overall shape of the ship. The proportions of passenger compartment to engine size is nice. The background makes for some great pictures - They make great wallpaper, Bob (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Thanks Bob - I tried to squeeze as much interior space into the design as I could. The main limitation was the lime-coloured elements at my disposal. I think it came out about right, though. (...) Yeah, the first two images were meant to be (...) (21 years ago, 18-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Sylvia Tresto
(...) Great MOC Paul! You really made lime work for me. And the metallic parts just rock with it. Great design and it still looks mighty swooshable to me! Love, Sylvi (21 years ago, 17-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Thanks Sylvia! I don't think the lime would have looked very good without the silver (especially with that silver printing on the slopes!). Oh, and it looks more swooshable in the photos than when you try to pick it up in RL - this thing is (...) (21 years ago, 18-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Patrick Bunn
(...) Very awesome. I love the rear, the orange tips around the engines really works well. It goes against the grain with the lime green color but I think anything goes in space. Nice work. Pat Bunn (...) (21 years ago, 18-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Thanks Pat. I wanted to find an application for the lime green I'd accumulated - with the purchase of a pile of cheap 3x12 lime green wedges on Bricklink, the project sort of presented itself. At the end of the day, I think it would have (...) (21 years ago, 20-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Mark Mueller
(...) Wholly Lima beans! This is supra cool! I thinks the painted slopes are fine, except for the orange surfaces. (IMO) The engines are way cool and the overall shape is terrific. A+ What's in those bottles in the galley? -Captain John “aka Mark (...) (21 years ago, 20-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Fair enough - there's been a range of opinions on the printing :-) I can honestly say that I'm quite satisfied with how that part turned out. I prefer a certain amount of surface detail, large plain surfaces generally bug me on a spaceship (...) (21 years ago, 23-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Argent Supra —Douglas R. Clark
(...) snip Wow, way cool. I don't know if I can add much more to what has already been said. I do like the color-scheme and the printing on the pannels does not bother me too much. Looks like it would be a super-fast; better watch out for space (...) (21 years ago, 21-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

         Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) Well, it's funny you mention that because Julius' brother IS a space pirate... building his ship is some ways off though. (...) Thanks Doug! Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (21 years ago, 23-Feb-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Mike Banks
(...) WOW. These ((URL) really make me want to pull out my legos and build again. I am curious, what is your process? Do you draw on paper then use LDraw or something similar to design and then build? Do you buy sets to get the parts you need, or do (...) (21 years ago, 1-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

        Re: Argent Supra —Paul Baulch
(...) That's the main reason I post. Good to hear! (...) I've occasionally sketched a MOC beforehand, and I build with a supply of parts both from sets (which encourage new ideas) and from Bricklink (which facilitates existing ideas). I tried LDraw (...)         Re: Argent Supra —Mike Banks
(...) That ship has a very unique shape. I am interested to see what you do with it. (...) Unfortunately it may still be a bit before I get anything up here. I have a seven week old son at home.
