Hi Paul,
The majority of the plates are blue (though there are also some black) and most
of the dark grey bricks are sloping. Those black saucer bottom quarters also
appeared in the 6198 Sting Ray Stormer. Hey, black saucer TOPS would be kind
of cool to see in the future!

I'll agree with you that the set looks ugly (if not a bit lame) at first, but I
like it substantially over the UFO offerings (though even those could have been
so much better if the saucer sections and windows weren't so cluttered with
preprinted crap).
It also sometimes helps to have the actual model in one's hands (as many Sith
Infiltrator fans apparently attest). Maybe Lego needs in-store displays that
customers can play with BEFORE they buy (I can see the AFOLs "wooshing" around
TRU isles now).
