The Road Show came to Seattle on the last weekend of September, running from the
26th to the 28th. PNLTC, SeaLUG, and SMART all shared the small space with a
3-layer layout in 4 sections. You can check out a sampling of the pictures on
the SeaLUG site here: http://www.sealug.org/events/misc/tlc_roadshow_2003

(folder root) PNLTC
(Pacific Northwest Lego Train Club) had the top level, which consisted of two
train loops on a small town layout. This section was directly above the SMART
layout, with enough open space to below and enough space between to allow the
whole SMART layout to be seen. SeaLUG (Seattle area Lego Users Group) had the
middle level, flanking the other parts of the layout on both sides. One side
had a modest moonbase/space layout, and the other was half filled with a castle
layout and half filled with various random MOCs. SMART (Seattle Mindstorms
And Robotics Techies) had the bottom layer. This was a roughly 5 x 10 area.
It was covered with shiny white board with black tape markings for the robots to
follow. Various robots transported soccer balls and crates of soccer balls
around the area, via train, forklift, and various other methods. Lego
provided some stickers for us to hand out, and we gave the public a challenge-
there were 15 AndroDan figs placed around the layout and we asked kids to find
one per year of age. We provided a hint sheet that called out 10 of the figs to
help them.
The event was a lot of work, but it went wonderfully and we all had fun
working with the public and with the Lego folks. Id like to extend my
personal thanks to Lego for allowing us to participate in this event. This is a
relationship Id like to see continued. And I would also like to extend my
thanks to everyone who helped the Seattle stop go so well. Thank you to
everyone who participated, whether it was providing MOCs, setting up tables, or
being there to help staff the area. It could not have happened without all of
you! -- Tony Hafner www.hafhead.com

earlier- I burned up all my energy in getting ready for the show and in prepping
for NWBrickCon the following weekend! And then Brad goes and calls me out at
the NWBC Q&A...)
