A ship I built a while back but with the purchase of a shiny new digital
camera, I am now getting to post.

The inspiration for the ship came from several sources.  The Cobra attack
helicopter and the A-10 "Warthog".  The name comes from the music played in
"Appocalypse Now" when the Air Cav attack the beach.  The piece is "Flight
of the Valkyrie", by Vagner.

The ships main weapon is the minigun in the nose.  Capable of 10,000 rounds
a minute of depleted Legonium rounds.  The ship has air-to-air and
air-to-surface missles in the side missile pods and the missles can be
targeted by ground forces or by the gunner.  The side pods also house two
ion cannons which are mainly used to soften or disable enemy shields and
then the target is eliminated with the more "conventional" weaponry on
board.  The turret on the roof houses four blast cannons which are used to
cover and protect the ship as it breaks contact or returns to target.  The
ship has limited range due to weight restrictions despite the massive thrust
provided by its power plants.  Its is capable of atmospheric flight but its
flight time is greatly reduced as power is diverted to maintain level flight.

The ship has a reputation for dependablity and has seen service in several
military and law enforcement roles.

I like it. It's what happens when your friendly, neighborhood Galaxy Explorer pilot decides "No more Mr. Nice Guy!" Scott (...) (22 years ago, 12-May-03, to lugnet.space)
