New MOC: Desert Rat —Chris Maddison
Hi all, Well, the Evergreen was an amazingly fun and challenging build. So, I figured I'd try the pod thing again. The results: (URL) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Jonathan Mizner
Interesting... I like the removable mini-pod idea. I've got a bunch of ideas like that, the trouble is getting them to fit into the area contained in an 8x8 circle... Very nice pods! (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks Jonathan. The idea of the minipod was what got me to build this one. I wanted to see how I could incorporate it. -Chris (22 years ago, 21-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) In such a tight volume. DANG I wish I came up with that! Very clever, with the droid arms pieces. :-, Cheers, - jsproat (22 years ago, 21-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Chris Maddison
(...) Heh. Thanks Jeremy. The luggage thing was sort of an afterthought - I wanted the space for the minipod, and I thinks to myself, I thinks, "I wonder if I take off the webbed dishes". Then I thinks to myself, I thinks "Well, no need for a (...) (22 years ago, 21-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Gil Shaw
Two pods for the price of one! That minipod is amazing...love it. The cross-section is amazing as well....you've really brought an economy to the design Chris....so few parts combining into such a fantastic looking pod. Bodes well of TLG ever does a (...)          Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Chris Maddison
Thanks Gil. It's just downright *hard* to fit a lot of pieces in that space, so I guess it comes easy to use few pieces. I'm constantly trying to bump up the piece count to get a little more detail, but then it doesn't look at good, with things (...) (22 years ago, 21-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Jamie Neufeld
(...) I like it! The evergreen was good but this beats it hands down. I like the dual landing gear and the little retractable pod. I'm also a fan of the skinnier 2 stud wide pods and you seem to have mastered it :). Excellent work. Jamie (...) (22 years ago, 21-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Chris Maddison
(...) Thanks Jamie. As I said, this was built with the idea of a minipod. I like the 2 stud wide pods too - the other ones are cool, but these look more...poddish. :-) With 2 pods under my belt, I'd hardly say I'd mastered anything, but thanks. (...)         Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Erik Schroer
Nice Pod, well made, articulate, and makes good use of available space. Now if you armed both the minipod and the main pod then you would have a pretty good military vessel. Even with light weaponry, the small minipod could antagonize light infantry (...) (22 years ago, 22-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Chris Maddison
Thanks Erik. Maybe an armed minipod is in store for the future...I'm kicking around a few ideas. The main pod is armed, however. That's what all the greeblies on the sides are for. :-) -Chris (...) (22 years ago, 22-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Desert Rat —Erik Schroer
Now I see that it is indeed armed I thought that it was sensor/communications equipment. Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a Greebly? \\//,DedmanWalkin (22 years ago, 22-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)
