I've never tried to build one myself but I have the original Kenner
toy (its decent). I think that this would be a cool SW ship to make. I think
this ship is actually one of the more creative and cool looking ships in the
SW universe. It often seems overlooked by fans. I tell ya that shot of it
flying off of Hoth with the X wings when they say "the first transept is
away..." -- that part still gives me chills...
I would imagine that this would be very tricky to make out of Lego due
(as you stated) to its curved hull. I imagine after you get your initial
angles set you could build up and add more curves with plates. A while ago I
was playing around with the idea of beetle shaped fighter that would deploy
its wings from the back much like a real beetle does by unfolding them from
underneath the carapace. I wanted the back of it to be nice and curved. I
used some click hinges to angle plates along the length of the beetle and
then I added plates to the top of those and to the bottom of the angled
plates at the back of the beetle to give a sloped look. It looked fairly
good. I also added a few sloped here and there on it to throw in some noise.
The bottom areas are some of my favorite parts of the transport. All
those exposed containers..
