More than you know!

A friend of mine (Daniel Patrick Curtis III, are you out there???) made a test
liftoff super-8 movie, using the same ship model... the classic 487 Space
Cruiser!  I had a bag of Polyfil that I used to simulate the exhaust.  It ALMOST
looked believable...

We also did some test shots of minifigs walking, and Dan had a large robot with
movable arms and tractor-tread feet that we tried out.

I really like your film.  You were VERY patient.  We tried to keep the action
slow, but it was really hard not to rush things, particularly because parts are
so small.  Minifigs jogged, more than walked.  Our spaceship liftoff was a bit
too fast.

Thanks for the walk down Memory Lane!

Thank you for your kind words.  Yeah, I HAD to be patient.  There were times
(more than once) where I was in the middle of a shot that I had been working on
for a few hours and I'd accidentally bump the camera -- so had started the shot
over.  This happened in the opening shot where the minifig drives up to the gas
station (the beginning of which is not in the movie.  When I retransferred the
super-8 film to video tape recently, the transfer house cut off the first few
seconds for some bizarre reason.  Since I had given the film to a friend to
transfer, I only noticed the loss when I screened the tape -- by that time, the
piece was irretrievably lost)...
