Thanks! The actual Daedalus had big ol' fuel globes around the
middle. I've sort of mingled and mangled my TAU and Daedalus
references--they're different things, and Daedalus actually dates
from the mid-1970s--but you can see the ship in diagram here:

It was less ambitious than I'm going for (0.12-0.13c, and using
Helium-3 rather than deuterium). But...I do have about ten of
the tan top and bottom pieces from the "balloons" in 5988, which
I've been planning for several years on incorporating as fuel
globes into just such a project!

Two words: Dinosaur Parts. The tails and necks can give you some
very excellent tapers. They just don't come in enough colors.
