pardon my newbie-ness. i am researching mindstorms, as i am getting
myself a set for xmas. now i am confused about the fact everyone seems
to want RIS with the v 1.0 RCX. is this true? i guess i am just
caught up in the details and new (to me) acronyms and names. i will
make the assumption the RIS is the prefered set to have.
i am looking to use nqc and maybe legOS. will these work with 1.5?
i saw the post about buying the 1.0 set and upgrading to 1.5 and getting
lots more pieces and stuff. that sounds good, but it brings me back to
the question of do i want 1.5? does it work with nqc? legOS?
and how the heck does "scout" fit into all this?!
is there a faq!? a chart!? good lord, i am just buying legos!!
(pant pant) haha
calming down. thanks!

| You will get a few extra parts with the 1.5 version, but the RCX does not have a place to plug in an AC Power adapter. NQC will work fine with both systems. Scout is junior to the Robotics System. Take a tour of the MindStorms sites and you will (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| (...) The problem is that 1.5, does not have the vbx file to allow these to work. You have to get this from a version 1 system. (...) 1.5, adds quite a few useful pieces, but loses a few others. Having '1' upgraded, gives you the best of both (...) (25 years ago, 11-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)
