Hi all,
As another datapoint in my liberation from the Wintel hegemony. I did
indeed get Dave's latest MacNQC working on my new G4/400 using the Keyspan
USB to serial adapter. I recommend downloading the latest driver from
Keyspan. You can use the Macintosh modem cable, connect the DB25-DB9
adaptor from the Mindstorms kit, connect the included Mindstorms DB9 cable
from that to the IR tower. Use Port 2 of the Keyspan adapter and make
sure you configure that in the "preferences" part of MacNQC.
Sometimes the placement of the Keyspan adapter is important. Try running
it directly from the G4, not the keyboard, first. I had to disable my
Imation SuperDrive control panels and unplug the SuperDrive, use MacNQC to
setup the port properly and then re-enable and plug in the SuperDrive to get
a "magical" working setup - its a bit of a mystery. The really good thing
about all of this is that I have been working with the Keyspan folk and they
are actively interested in getting MacNQC working, both from the Apple
development environment and the GUI standalone MacNQC. Cool.
Anyway, it works.
