SDK 2 includes the latest version of firmware and tools to load it to the
RCX.
It's also included in the new RIS 2.0 CD
The new RIS 2.0 is the one with the RCX 2.0 + USB InfraRed Tower + Latest
firmware version (you could call it 2.0, yes)
You can download this new firmware from LEGO to update your RCX firmware, as
Rob described in his post.
Here's a little table so you can understand the relation between RIS, RCX
and firmware versions:
RIS1.0=Serial IR Tower+firmware 1.0+RCX marked 1.0 with power input
RIS1.5=Serial IR Tower+firmware 1.0+RCX marked 1.0 *but* with no power input
RIS2.0=USB IR Tower+firmware 2.0+RCX marked 2.0 with no power input
Any RCX "version" can be loaded with any firmware version, because all
existing RCX versions are compatible/"equal".
When using NQC, you should download the latest version so you can work with
the new capabilities of firmware 2.0 (aka RCX2)
Download Dave Baum's NQC 2.4 r1 at:
http://www.enteract.com/~dbaum/nqc/release/index.html
Download John Binder's latest version of BricxCC at:
http://members.aol.com/johnbinder/bricxcc.htm
(Excellent NQC GUI with many usefull extras)
