I've been trying to build a cross compiler and brick-os on my machine for a
day now and well, what can I say except that all the how-to's and
instructions for building brick-os seem to be either wrong, bad or out of
date. (e.g. they talk about very old versions of gcc and binutils and refer
to brickos as legOS still!)
I think I've sucessfully managed to build a cross compiler and brick os, but
man was it painful trying to figure out what I needed to do it! (I think I
owe google some money for all the searching I had to do! :D) I'll test it
on my rcx soon but as there were no errors during the build
(eventually) i think it should be ok.
I will update the howto and will update the cygwin shell script and provide
information regarding some patches that are required to enable it to be
compiled using gcc > 3.2 and binutils 2.16 but how do:
a) we get these patches (created by debian users) integrated into brick-os
itself.
b) I get an updated howto onto the brickos site.
Personally I think the brickos site on sourceforge should have a wiki where
these instructions should live so that they can be updated as needed by
anyone who has the time.
Who can setup a wiki there? Anyone got some time to go though some of the
info on the site and update it?
btw, see my comments on here for more info about the patches:
