We are working to release 0.2.6 by the end of this week. If you have not yet had time to test 0.2.5.2 (the current test version) please take time to do so and let us know what you find. Hi, I installed legOS and cygwin a while ago ... OK, it was version 0.2.4 ;-) But what I've done differently is that I didn't took the original gcc-sources from gnu.org, but the sources of the compiler in cygwin. after about an hour it finished ...but i'm still having problems when i type "make realclean" i get a big mess of stuff with the only noticable error being "gccw32: not found" and that occurs at the beginning. then i type "make depend" i get a small (...) it seems make dosn't install by default with the cgywin setup file. i reinstalled cgywin with "make" and other needed modules: ash autoconf automake bash binutils cpio cygwin diff file fileutils findutils flex gcc grep less login make mingw patch (...) I’ve never had any problems with the light sensor reading fast enough, and I have a robot that runs pretty fast. How are you trying to follow the line? The hardware can get a light sensor reading every 1 mS. Is the process that is reading the light sensor at a high enough priority? I'm a new legos user and I'm trying to get my first app working. The issue appears to be that the light sensor value isn't getting updated as frequently as I expected. Wow! I am so glad this worked. I entered a bug for the program.c changes earlier today (on sourceforge) and will enter one for the readme change. I tried doing "dll -pX prog.lx" instead of "dll prog.lx -pX" and it works! Thanks. It would be good if Joe Wooley's alteration to program.c could be included in the next version of legOS because it does the trick with the "keeping alive" and "error (...) Well, I am sorry to say that I don't have a solution for that problem. I haven't experienced this before. I am glad to hear that the program download doesn't fail anymore; and I will request that 0.2.6 contains a similar fix. Ok, another suggestion: (...) Sorry, no. That's the one difference; it no longer says error deleting program and I don't get any errors when downloading to the RCX. I always use firmdl3 -s because using just firmdl3 on its own never works for me. I still have the problem that (...) (22 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

After making the change, do you still get "Error deleting program"? or other errors while downloading the program? Your assumption is correct, it will only switch to a program slot if there is a valid program there. I had problems sending programs (...) (22 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

I just tried this and it has no effect. By the way, I'm using Cygwin B20 under Windows 98 with a com port IR thing, and LegOS 0.2.5. The same thing happened using WinLegOS and 0.2.3. Pressing the PRGM key has no effect in any situation - I assume it (...) (22 years ago, 7-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

I had similar problems when using legOS with CONF_TM defined in boot/config.h What I found was that the lnp handler was not getting enough processing time and was missing some data at times. I just put my java MD5 port for lejos on the web: (URL) for the popups, Tripod....) It's a terrible hack, but thanks to that memory footprint is low and it does not leak! Hi All, I've been trying to send data to my PC using WinLNP and the USB tower. Now, I've modified WinLNP to use the USB tower and it seems to work. As mentioned in the RLS doc ((URL) there is mention of communicating with the sourceforge maillist legos-devel@lists.so...forge.net. I don't think this is the greatest idea for a couple of reasons. Aaagh! Cygwin B20! That's about 4 years old, IIRC. The current version is 1.3.10, soon to be 1.3.11. Get it from www.cygwin.com - and where did you manage to find B20 ? In order to get around this, create a directory 'tmp' from within Cygwin's bash shell using the command: mkdir /tmp This will get rid of that (...) Hi - the makefiles don't work at the moment for legOS on cygwin - this patch fixes that. It also stops a dependency generation command from being invoked by make clean, and, in the util directory, instead of compiling firmdl3, dll, and others in (...) Concerning the name change, call for ideas and a vote, I would suggest that a NEW thread entitled similar to "Call for legOS name change" be created in lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos. That would be great. Thanks Mark! Obviously, it will be prudent to make some or all of these optional at compile time... but I believe at least half of them are useful for most users. I read over the proposed release changes for 0.2.6, just a few ideas. I recently picked up a second RCX and found it quite difficult to do development using legOS on two RCXs. I guess I should check the documentation on sourceforge as well, but I would like to know: What are the design goals for legOS at this point. I'm interested in helping out with legOS as well. So here's a brief write up of my applicable qualifications. ~7 years of C/C++ programming ~3 years of embeded C programming ~5 years of distributed programming (CORBA, RPC, RMI, homegrown stuff) (...) I think the main problem with legOS right now is lack of consistent maintenance. As Luis Villa noted back in February, he can no longer devote enough time to legOS to support the upkeep. ROSCO, Well, I was wrong about the inline function. I sure am learning a lot these days 8-) I tried it both ways (inline func and macro)... turns out the macro produces less code by about 50 bytes. I have noticed several places in the kernel where nb_tasks is used to see if a program is running. Currently, nb_tasks > 3 means that a program is running and <= 3 means that just the kernel processes are running. I would like to propose that the (...) You may also be able to return them to Lego for free and get replacements, it depends on how old they are. I would try before you have to buy a new motor, they aren't the cheapest. Jeremy, The motors that come with Mindstorms are geared internally, and it's probably jammed gears that are causing you woes. Your "friend" gave you some broken motors. I recently inherited an RCX 1.0, a serial IR tower and a few motors from a gracious friend. After many headaches, I finally got legOS 0.2.5 running on RH 7.1 and am able to compile and DL programs to the RCX. There is one odd thing, however - of the (...) This is really more of a general C question than an lnpd question. Anyway, the problem is with serialization; you want to take a structure in memory, and turn it into a stream of bytes, either to store in a file, send over a network, or whatever. (...)
