The first beta release of leJOS is out at
http://lejos.sourceforge.net. leJOS is a
Java based replacement firmware for the RCX,
forked out of TinyVM (http://tinyvm.sourceforge.net),
with practically all of its features, plus:
- There is a Windows version (CygWin not required).
- Much faster Sensor API.
- Floating point arithmetic (32-bit only).
- java.lang.Math functions, e.g. log, exp, sin, cos, tan, atan.
- String constants.
- Thread.sleep.
- ButtonListener support.
- Multi-program downloading.
- Many more APIs.
Garbage collection is coming really soon.
While TinyVM's footprint is less than 10 Kb, leJOS is
currently at 17 Kb or so.
leJOS is open source, and is actively being developed.
Several people have already made significant contributions
to it.
