Use of diodes to MUX two motors on a single output has been known for a
long time. I have not seen a description of just putting the diode in
the wire itself to make a One Way wire. If you use two you get a
No-Way wire which does not sound useful. But add a couple of microswitches
and you can impliment hardware limit stops without using any RCX inputs
for things that need to go back and forth between two extremes driven by
a motor. I have a description at:
www.aloha.net/~mburger/oneway.html
It is a bit BEAM like in that instead of using one output and two inputs
on the RCX to impliment this, it manages to get by with only the output.
It has other applications when used with bumpers. There are likely a
lot of BEAM tricks that can do things in simple hardware "reflexes"
external to an RCX and thus expand the potential of Lego RCX robots.
