As near as I can tell, I must have had the RCX examine tool polling the
brick as I tried to download a program. Perhaps one too many windows
at a time.
Anyway, things got very strange. The brick would not respond to anything
and merrily churned about until I pulled out its batteries! Even
after I exited all windows and tried all the buttons on the RCX nothing
would work except death by power starvation.
I had to use the Lego software to reload the firmware.
BTW, one nice use for those small block thick building base plates
is with a couple of small stacks of beams to make a stand for a robot
that holds its wheels up off the ground for testing. Beats chasing it
about.
Is it possible to use the query the brick took to keep an eye on all
the variables while the RCX runs programs? Or was this major fowlup
due to the tool window running autopoll when a download was attempted?
