I don't think it's the LCD per se that is causing problems, but rather
the fact that the HB runs the 6811 in special mode. The main effect of
this is that the interrupt vectors, including the reset vector, live
at $bfc0 to $bfff rather than the normal $ffc0 to $ffff.
I gave a quick look at the Buffalo 2.5 source and saw that you can
change an equate determining where the vectors are. You may need to
relocate the code itself so that it doesn't crash into the vectors.
