I have two questions;  The first is about a 2 phase, bipolar servo
motor that I ordered from digikey.  Since I have never used servos much before
I was stumped when I recieved the motor and it had four wires coming out (Red,
Blue, White, Orange) of it instead of an expected 3.  Here is the chart that
digikey supplies in their catalog (time to switch to a fixed font):

CW Exitation Mode (Output Shaft View)
       ____________________________________________
       |\         |    1 Phase    |    2 Phase    |
       |  \  Step |               |               |
       |    \     |  Excite Mode  |  Excite Mode  |
       |      \   |_______________|_______________|
       | Phase  \ | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
       |__________|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|
       | 1  Red   | X |   |   |   | X |   |   | X |
       | 2  Blue  |   | X |   |   | X | X |   |   |
       | 3  White |   |   | X |   |   | X | X |   |
       | 4  Orange|   |   |   | X |   |   | X | X |
       |__________|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|

Some of the information in the above chart is probably for the 4 phase motors
they sell, but Im not sure what.

Here is one more diagram they give:

        ___________________________________
       |         For Bipolar Drive         |
       |                                   |
       |    Red _____         _____ Blue   |
       |             3 ,' `. E             |
       |             3 |   | E             |
       |  White _____3 `._,' E_____ Orange |
       |                                   |
        -----------------------------------

where the '3's and 'E's are meant to be coils of wire.

Any clues?

My next questions deals with hall effect sensors.  The limited data
sheet I got on the ones I have gives one pin as Vcc one pin as Ground and the
final pin as signal.  However when I connect it up accordingly and monitor the
signal pin on a scope, I get nothing when passing a refridgerator magnet by it.
Am I missing something? It has got internal pullups on it so the scope is
always showing a DC 5v sig.

Thanks.
