Does Anyone know how to modify the handy board so that when the battery

In short I want the HB to have nonvolatile memory so that I do not have
to reload the pcode in bootstrap mode every time the battery is
disconnected.

You  can get a RAM Module with built-in battery.  Don't remember the
name but they are out there.

Try Dallas Semiconductor.
