Is there any way for my IC program to use the serial port? I am guessing the
answer is no, as IC needs it for communicationg to the host computer. (Mac in
my case.)
So then the question becomes, is it possible to modify IC so that I can use the
serial port? Can the pcode be re-written so that I can set a global variable to
true or false to turn on or off IC's access to the serial port? This way my
program could disable IC's use of the port while it was running, and re-enable
it when it was done.
'Why do you want to do this silly thin, Brian?' you ask. Well, I have tons and
tons of interrupts running on my HB right now (to input a PWM signal, output a
PWM signal, recieve IR commands, and input quadrature-coded Shaft Encoder
signals) and there's very little time left for my program to run. So I plan to
off-load all of the interrupt stuff onto a spare MiniBoard I have laying around
here. But now how do I communciate between the two? I say the easiest way is to
use the serial port. I know, you'll all suggest the SPI bus, but I've never
used it before, and have NO idea how to have the two boards commuicate via
anything other than the serial port.
Can anyone help?
