| | | RS232 is +12 and -12, but most serial ports can work correctly even if the signal is 3 to 5v. I regularly use 3 to 5v level serial signals. If you need to convert low voltage serial to RS232 specs, you can use a chip like Maxim's 232 - see (...) (29 years ago, 22-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
