This suggestion isn't even close to what you require, but it may meet
the needs of others on the list who are looking for an alternative
H-bridge:

It can go to 3.5A at 35vdc, and is serially controlled. I don't think
it would be hard to build a pic interface to the HB if serial control
was ineffective for some reason.
