Heres a IR xmitter/receiver idea for you;

I've seen this approach used in equipment and it works very well, I'm
not sure how well it will work for robotics but believe it can be
adapted.
This is difficult to explain but easy to build, so hang with me while
I try and explain.  I've made a Orcad schematic of this circuit for
those who are interested.

Using a dual timer(556), you use one timer(1) to clock a Quad D
Flop(75175),and simultaneously trigger the second timer(2). The second
timer(2) sends a very short pulse to a FET switch. The FET switch is
connected to 4 IR-LED's through (4) 10ohm (hi wattage) resistors.

The IR-LED's get a short 2+ amp spike, this gives you a good range
and because the detectors are only read when the IR-LEDs are fired,
there is very little problem with ambient light and noise.

The idea is to read all 4 detectors while simultaneously sending a
short hi current spike to your IR-LED's. The status of each detector is
captured by the D-Flop and held so it can be read by the Handyboard. To
get another reading clear the D-Flop and trigger timer(1)

Well, thats my 2cents worth.....

  IC for W95

I was wondering if there's a freeware version of IC for windows 95. If so, how can I get it? Also, do I need any registration number? Please respond asap. I'm anxious to program my HB. Thanks, (...) (28 years ago, 25-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
