I don't have the RS part numbers, but I bought them within the last few
months so if there are "old" and "new" ones mine are probably "new".
I checked out the RS web page and found that what they currently have
is RS part number 276-137, and is supposed to be a Sharp GP1U52X.
The interesting bit is that the text on their data sheet says it's
"40 KHz +/- 4KHz" but the specifications on the data sheet says
"38 KHz +/- 3KHz". Guess they don't know how it works either. :-)
