I have seen these all over - they are simple 900Mhz wireless links for video/audio. I think Radio Shack sells a device like this, as do the two places Mike Ross mentioned, JDR (URL) and Supercircuits (URL)---...--- (...) (28 years ago, 3-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
