It depends on what platform you are using. C++ does not provide a standard interface for serial or parallel IO. P-code, I assume, stands for "pseudo code." The P code represents tokenized op codes for a virtual machine interface. I don't know about a complete explanation, but it's my understanding that the p-code is sort of like a rudimentary operating system for the HC11, which allows programs to be loaded and executed.
