I tried to explain term firmware to middle school age children. The best that I can do without using the technical terms, like embedded software, ROM is this: "Firmware is a set of instructions which must be loaded into the RCX Brick in order for it (...) One activity I've used w/a huge age range is "A chair for Mr. Bear" (URL) being listed as a k-2 activity, I've used it on pre-K through college level. Liz, I don't envy you. It'll be hard to keep the attention of such a diverse age group. From my experience, the 2nd and 3rd graders will be the easy ones. The 4th and 5th graders, well, I don't envy you. I am always impressed when I go to my (...) (21 years ago, 9-Mar-05, to lugnet.robotics.edu)
