Solutions given in previous posts addressed the problems of using Cybermaster
software with Win XP only partially. The tour runs but you cannot do anything
beyond that.
I found the real answer to the Win XP problem in the post by Karin, here:

You don't really need to know the language to figure out that it goes something
like this:
Start/All Programs/Accessories
Run Program Compatibilty Wizard
Browse to the Cybermas.exe file usually in C:\Program Files\Lego
Software\Products\Cybermaster
Set the compatibilty mode to MS Windows 95
Choose display settings to 256 colors and 640x480 resolution.
Test your compatibility settings.
Did your program work correctly. Yep.
Set this program to always use these compatibility settings. Yes.
Send data to MS. No, tks.

| As well as using Windows95 Compatibility Mode, you also have to ensure you're running QuickTime 6.4 or lower (or you get startup error 8065006D). Cybermaster is not compatible with the latest (version 7 and up as at May 2008) versions of Quicktime, (...) (16 years ago, 4-Jun-08, to lugnet.robotics.cybermaster)
