Launching at my family reunion last year, someone said "put a this golf
ball on top and see what happens" So I did. woah there was only one
person in the group that could track it regularly it went outta sight!
and came down FAST went thru a tree on it's way back down once and
snapped off a 1" diameter limb cleanly. It all stopped when the 4th
launch came down VERY near my uncles new truck! also I really didn't
want it landing on someones head.
I launched these on top of just plain 2l bottles no fins/nosecones.
While typing this I thought of an experiment I saw on "Bill Nye The
science Guy" some time ago. They put a tennis ball on top of a
basketball and dropped them from chest high. the tennis ball rocketed
away and the basketball bounced only a little bit. The basketball gave
all its energy to the tennisball. I think this may be what happened here
because the bottle didn't go as high.
