Get the upgrade.
With the sticker it only costs the carriage, and it adds a few new pieces,
including some quite nice ones (a clutch built into a gear is the 'best'). You
have got the 'best' combination with this, there are more parts in the older
kit, and adding the new bits opens several further options. The software
doesn't matter, since you have everything you need, and some people would
argue the older software is better (the newer code allows operation at
different screen resolutions, but is less good if you want to 'watch' the
RCX). Your RCX also has the power input connector, that was dropped from the
1.5 kit, which is the worst thing about the 1.5...
NQC does not need the latter software.
